Savannah Resources plc today announced that the Application has been submitted to the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy in Mozambique for an additional mining lease in the name of its wholly owned subsidiary, Matilda Minerals Lda.

Savannah Resources PLC (LON:SAV) told investors that construction work has started for the pilot plant at the Mutamba project in Mozambique. The plant is part of the bulk metallurgical test project at Mutamba. It will be a 20-tonne per hour facility, capable of producing bulk samples of concentrates from mineral sands.

New studies by companies related to the mining sector show good prospects for the exploitation of heavy sands and rubies in Mozambique, according to the report consulted by the Lusa news agency. Mining company Savannah Resources conducted a study for sand processing in Mutamba, in the Inhambane region of southern Mozambique, and concluded that “there is potential for a financially robust and long-lasting project.”

Savannah Petroleum has announced the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (‘MOU’) with the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) and Nigeria National Petroleum Corp (NNPC) in relation to collaboration between the three parties in the Nigerian section of the Central African Rift System.
