The US group Anadarko, the largest producer of crude oil among Sonatrach’s partners, expressed willingness to renew its production contracts in Algeria and reinforce its activity there, a senior official from Sonatrach told APS.
The two groups Sonatrach and Anadarko held a discussion session in Houston (Texas) on the occasion of the 12th edition of the Algerian-American forum on energy to discuss the prospects of their partnership. The meeting was chaired by Sonatrach leader Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour and his Anadarko counterpart Al Walker.
“Anadarko has requested the extension of all its hydrocarbon exploitation contracts in Algeria,” said Sonatrach’s vice-president of exploration and production Salah Mekmouche at the end of the meeting.
“Anadarko wants to bring new technologies in terms of predictive maintenance and digitization of hydrocarbon exploitation, which has become a real performance driver in terms of oil production, said Mekmouche.
The US group that produces nearly 260,000 barrels / day is also interested in investing in unconventional resources.
