Africa Oil & Gas: Angola remains Africa second largest oil producer in November

Angolan oil output in November was 1.521 million barrels per day (bpd) according to secondary sources, a monthly increase of 3,000 bpd, according to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) monthly report.

The monthly report on the oil market for December published on Wednesday in Vienna also reported that, according to direct communication, Angola’s production amounted to 1.417 million bpd, a number that shows a monthly decline of 40,000 bpd.

Angola therefore remained the second largest oil producer in Africa, after Nigeria, which according to secondary sources saw its production fall from 30,000 bpd to 1.736 million bpd.

Nigerian production according to direct communication reached 1.938 million bpd, with a monthly increase of 303,000 bpd.

Angola led oil production in Africa for practically the whole of 2016 and until May 2017, a position it has since lost to Nigeria.
