Mozambique Oil & Gas: ExxonMobil could start Angoche exploration this month

US oil giant ExxonMobil, together with its Russian concession partner Rosneft, will start exploring for oil and gas in its offshore blocks in the Angoche basin this month, according to a report by
Radio Moçambique.
President Nyusi met with a delegation from the company in New York last week; no press conference was given afterwards, but
Radio Moçambique says the two parties “made it clear that the meeting was productive”.
The exploration and production concession contracts for the fifth round blocks – including Exxon and Rosneft’s in Angoche – are expected to be signed this month following approval last month in the Council of Ministers. That will allow for the start of
exploration – and hopes are high of finding oil in Angoche. (source: Rádio
