Mozambique Energy: New substations provide more power to Inhambane province

The districts of Jangamo and Massinga in Mozambique’s Inhambane province will benefit from more electricity distribution following the launch of two new substations.

Luís Salomão from power company Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) said works have been completed and the substations are now being inspected ahead of distributing electricity that will benefit the region.

Financed by the Mozambican Government, with the support of Danish development agency DANIDA, the work cost 10 million euros.

Work at the Massinga substation included installing a transformer with a 32 MVA capacity and a 110 KVA medium voltage line, to transport electricity to Massinga, Morrumbene, Maxixe, Jangamo and the city of Inhambane.

At the Lindela substation in Jangamo district, work included installation of two new transformers each with a capacity of 15 MVA and a 30 KVA high voltage line.

Following the launch of these two new facilities, Inhambane province will continue to expand its electricity grid, aiming to add 10,000 new connections this year.source: Macauhub
