The Japanese government will support its Mozambican counterpart to identify mechanisms for stabilisation of the fuel market and find solutions for the issue of public finances, said on Thursday in Tokyo the President of Mozambique.

Filipe Nyusi gave no details of the support to be granted by Japan, but said the Japanese government is interested in supporting Mozambique to stabilise the problems related to the lack of fuel and of public finance.

“Japan will have to study the subject but it seems that the solution to the problems will be accomplished through a donation,” said the president of Mozambique, quoted by Mozambican news agency AIM.

Nyusi who said Mozambique is a major gateway for Japanese interests in the southern region of the African continent, said the Japanese gesture “will be a relief for the hefty bill that the country has to pay to import liquid fuels.”

Saying that the support would not be forever, the President added that this donation would be “a relief for Mozambique, because it can provide solution to the problem of imports for a while.” (macauhub)
