Africa Oil & Gas: South Africa flags gas-to-power

Pretoria promises incentives to build up the gas sector, but industry says what’s needed is action – or risk missing out on a bonanza of cheap LNG. South Africa is planning to foster a shift from pollutive diesel to natural gas through a new incentive programme.
The programme was announced February 20 by the head of industrial development at the government’s Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) Garth Strachan. His department established a Gas Industrialisation Unit in May 2016.(source: NGW Magazine)
