Africa Oil & Gas: NNPC, Nigeria Police cledge collaboration to curb oil, gas attacks

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have pledged to work more closely together to tackle attacks on oil and gas facilities across the country.
These attacks are taking a toll on the national budget with massive shortfalls in revenue as well huge losses in petroleum products, environmental degradation, refineries shutdown and loss of lives, said NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru.
In a visit to the Police Force headquarters in Abuja, Baru called on the police boss to deploy personnel to all oil and gas facilities, adding that the NNPC was ready to provide whatever support is needed for enhanced security.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, said the police was working on a number of strategies to build capacity for effective policing of the difficult terrain where some of the oil and gas facilities are located. Source: Rigzone
