Africa Oil & Gas: LNG Vessel Goes Aground in Nigeria

Various reports have a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker running aground off Nigeria after loading at the West African country’s Bonny Island export plant, or NLNG
The vessel was Teekay LNG Partners’ 165,000-cubic meter capacity Magellan Spirit. Traders say the LNG tanker ran aground trying to leave port bound for South Korea.
While the grounded tanker is not affecting traffic in or out of the port, the cargo’s owner Vitol will be affected by the incident. According to traders, Vitol could have to seek out a replacement cargo on the open market to replace theMagellan Spirit’s cargo.
